Background[]
Around twenty four years old, Smaug attacked Thorin's
kingdom eating all the men of Dale. Then at that time, Thorin was forced to
retreat with his friends at family. He earned the name Oakenshield after fighting in battle with an oaken branch as a shield. He later met Gandalf in Bree to recruit Bilbo Baggins to their group. He was at first reluctant to allow Bilbo in their company, but still allowed Mr. Baggins in their group nonetheless.
